Kubota L4240 HSTC,L3000DT
I have owned my tractor for three years(L4240 HSTC) and previously a L3130 HST.Both 4 WD.Recently have been haveing a problem engageing the 4WD lever.Talk about a "Duh" moment....while reading the manual it states that the clutch must be depressed to engage 4WD.Needless to say I have never done this!Thought I had read the manual from cover to cover but some how missed this.

My L5030 has 1200+ hours and the only time I use the clutch is to start it. I did read the manual, but I also talked to my dealer and other GL owners as well as tried using and not using the clutch for range changes and engaging FWD; can't yell any difference.

I guess it just depends on the tractor/operator.

I always press the direction treadle the opposite direction I was last going before engaging or disengaging the 4wd. Just a little bit to remove any load on the gears.
