i just looked at energyhog.org and there is a lot of information there about
saving energy: worth the time to visit.

I just used the website. Its seems pretty accurate based on what I gave for the input values and what it showed for costs. I track my power bills every month and the website seems pretty danged close. Looks like I save at least $100 a month heating with wood and we keep the temp much more to our likeing. The thermostat is 80. The default heat settings at the website was in the high 60s!

i was pretty impressed with all the stuff i looked at. some good information for existing homes and for those that are building new.
