Energy Saving Tips for Winter

Rodneyd,

Thanks for the information on the Hunter unit. That eliminates the one fear I had with using a programmable thermostat/heat pump combo during the winter. I think I'll go get one!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

i've been a little scared off from the geothermal units for now; i have 2 friends that put them in @7 years ago; one 6ton unit and one smaller, not sure how small?? both had to replace the units within the last year; the 6ton unit cost them $7,000; plus the new unit is really noisy...the big unit used wells, the other used buried pipe.

There were some problems with early gneration geothermal systems. Hopefully, they've been worked out, as the last few years have brought about changes. My warranties should protect me against this type of thing. I've never liked heat pumps, so in my application, this was the solution.
