OK, I bought a spinner. We had one on the tractor and the farm truck when I was a kid and I don't really need one, but I bought one anyway.

Now I can't figure out how to put it on. If it just had a plate on the spinner and another plate that you put under the wheel and bolted them together, I wouldn't have a problem, but this one has another bent plate that is perpendicular to the bolt plate (actually part of the same metal). This bent plate will not rest comfortably anywhere on the wheel in any orientation I can find. What's more, there appears to be two bottom plates, neither of which will allow the bolts to reach the spinner plate with the holes in it.

All in all, I fell like an idiot -- I can't even mount a spinner! How pathetic is that?*

Can anyone post a picture of a mounted spinner?

Cliff

*Not actually a question I would like answered.

Thanks Mossroad. Perfect picture.

It's as I suspected, the bolts that came with nine are considerably too short. Or my steering wheel and the three spokes are too big. I will track down some longer bolts.

Thanks again,
Cliff

My pleasure! I'd never mounted one before. I thought it would mount to the outside of the steering wheel ring, but it went on the spoke. I really like it. Best $10.00 I ever spent on the tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I find myself hanging on the spinner more than the steering wheel itself. And with a combination of the spinner and SuperSteer I can make my tractor look like a zero turn mower.

I tell ya.. between power steering.. 4wd w/ agg tires.. a spinner.. and stomping on one break pedal.. I can spin my Nh 1920 on a rear tire.. course it leaves two churned up ruts onthe other side!

I suppose a skid-steer would do much the same thing are far as the ruts go?

Good pic, Mossroad!
There's a rubber spacer that comes with the JD Spinner. There's a slot cut in the rubber. The tab that goes on the spoke (as shown in Mossroad's picture) goes in the slot.
Then you tighten the bolts down.
Apparently, it's not required in all applications, but I did need it when installing the spinner on my 790's wheel.
