[QUOTE="Big Chief, post: 5272817, member: 313926"]OK guys here are a few tips for you Emax 22 HST owners.
Just recently I begin having starting issues in the morning. The temperature is only around 30??ー which I felt should not of been an issue. The tractor will take several attempts to start while billing heavy black smoke.

Once warmed up no problems at all starting or running
I did some searches and looked into the 10 AM fuse which I cleaned and put back in and had no effect.
The glow plug light was turning on and staying on and for good 30 seconds but I still had heart start issues
I also had a check engine light appearing on the dash which would flash too long lights and for quick lights which I determined to be 24. Apparently that code as no meaning in the Mahindra literature.
I ohmed out the glow plugs in they checked out normal. I remove them and bench tested them with 12 V and they heated up fine. I also had 12 volts on each glow plug with the key on.
Something was still not right.

I spoke to the dealer where I bought the tractor which is Johnson auto in Bethany Connecticut. They recommended a look at the glow plug relay wiring. I did just that and I found that the wiring harness was rubbing on the frame. I pulled out the relay put it back in and it started right up.

The relay is buried inside the engine compartment almost impossible to get to I extended a harness and relocated to a much more convenient location. It has been working fine now for a few days and start it up in 5ー yesterday morning without a problem

Here is the kicker the power steering hose that comes off of the hydraulic pump which goes up to the steering wheel was completely worn through along the frame because it is such a tight fit with almost no extra hose to allow any movement.
It was starting to slowly leak and it is almost impossible to see. You have to disassemble the entire dash pull the steering wheel and the steering head unit to get the hose off.
I was going to order an OEM hose but decided to have one made a few inches longer to keep it away from the frame.

Take a look at your machine guys it may save you a huge headache in the future when you are in the middle of doing a project

I had the same bracket rub a hole in the same hose. I had one made a little longer and routed it where it would not rub again along with several others. I am having a problem with it starts fine cold but after using it and letting it set it is hard to start. I am not getting the glow plug light to illuminate when turning the key to the left.

Hi Matt, should be a label on top of the valve cover top of engine. You probably have either a Daedong or Mitsubishi. Mine is a Daedong.

I assume Daedong cause it says made in Korea.

On my Daedong, the glow plug relay is on the right side closer to the firewall under the fuse panel. There are two things that look like relays there. the back one(firewall side) is the glow plug relay. The one forward of it is the ECM. I had to replace both as the plug relay wires rubbed on a bolt or bracket(can't remember) and shorted out. Was having trouble with the plugs not operating correctly and eventually took out the ECM.

I have 2 relays on the right side while sitting on the tractor both of which I tested and they are good. Mine are above a fuse box.
But there are also 2 more relays on the right side standing in front of the tractor above another type of fuse box (4 or 5) I believe are the main fuses.
Wish I had a good service manual that wasn't $50.00 and written in good english. Owners manual is crap too.

Hmmm, well I looked at mine again tonight and I only have the two relays on the right side. Mine is a 2016/17 model with the Daedong. I know Mitsubishi was used also somewhere around that time.....

Dealer looked at it said there was air in the fuel line. Got it started. Then they tried starting again day after, would not start. Then they found a blown fuse. Starts now.
That is the same thing that happened to me.
Strange, hopefully this behavior doesn't repeat or I will looking for short.

Well, I guess that's fairly good news!

I'm new here. Emax 22 2016 no start problem but while I'm here I'll tell you a little hint that I found. Fuel shut off lever on the fuel filter is very poorly connected to the valve it's moves. If you do not push down on the select lever it can actually turn without turning the valve resulting in a no fuel flow situation anybody else seen this?

Hi Anthony. Let's look at "no start". Turning the key, do ya get any lights, dash icons, clicks, engine crank, or is it plain dead? Joe H.

Vibration so bad it breaks the fuel level gauge out of the top of the tank.

Thanks Joe I should have been more specific. I have crank I have fuel I have bled everything I have glow plugs. Found the fuel level gauge broke free of the top of the fuel tank and allowed anything that felt like it to go into the tank. At this point I'm going to remove the fuel tank, blow out all lines all the way to the injectors, fix the fuel filter, fix the tank and then try to start it again.

I'm having similar problems what do you mean took out the ECM?

The glow plug relay shorted out and managed to short the ECM, so had to replace the ECM also and the shop can't program the ECM, they say only Mahindra can program it.
