Electronic shuttle shift?

I'm putting this in the Kubota section simply because if I get a tractor, I think the L-48 would now be my first choice.


Other day, I was contemplating the pro/cons of hydro vs GST. When I once rented the L-35 I learned the GST forward/reverse lever took some effort.

Today, I have Brutus. I guess it is similar to GST in that the left side of steering wheel has a shuttle, but it is electronic. I can use my pinky finger to flick back/forth. I then have the use (which I think I like) of the foot throttle control instead of having RPM's on set level.

Are there any of these tractors that have an electronic shuttle to control direction? Or as on the GST, are they somehow manually connected to transmission and therefore require more effort to use?

Is this the same with all colors?

The "shuttle shift" found on most tractors is not electric, but really do not need to be. The effort required on the Kubota L4850 use require little more then the pinky to switch directions or place in neutral. The linkage does not move gears, it simply moves a small hydraulic linkage which takes care of the switch from forward to neutral to reverse for you or vice versa. It is certainly a huge improvement over the old manual transmission which required a clutch depress and then a stop and then the movement of gears. Rat...

Rat, my old L3750 had the same hydraulic shuttle shift and your right next to no pressure needed to switch from forward to reverse. But I like the hydro much better than the old shuttle shift. Guess that goes without saying.

The funny thing is at times I still reach for the lever that isn't there on the new tractor./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
