I just pressure washed my tractor today after bushhogging, go to turn it over and nothing! No electricity to anything, gauges, turn signal, starter, horn. The main fuse 30 amp is fine as are all the rest.
Any one have anything simial happen to them? What should I check? I even tried to bypass starter by jumping it at solinoid but there was no electricity there either.

Thanks

Just yesterday my Dad was over and he says "The tractor is dirty, why don't you pressure wash it?"

I said "No, I feel like having it start again sometime soon."

With all the exposed stuff on a Jinma it's too risky. My guess is you drove water up into the ingition switch or a junction block. Actually you may have blasted a wire completely loose somewhere. Up under the dash is where I'd look.

Check your ground from the battery,do you have any movment on anything when you turn the key to on,?? Could be ground or ignition switch. Most of the time if you jump accross the starter you don't need the key, so my guess is the ground from the battery

Yep, jumping from the large starter hot lead to the the small starter solenoid wire bypasses all the dash electricals(and the clutch safety switch so be carefull:). I would say it is either the battery ground lead to the frame or the battery hot lead to the starter motor. I would separate, clean and dry all 4 of these connection points(2 on battery, 1 frame, 1 starter motor). It would also be a good time to make sure the frame side of the ground wire is touching bare metal on the frame and not a layer of paint. I pressure wash occasionally, I just dont shoot directly at the wireing.

Good Luck.

Thanks Tommy, Good advice, went out and poked around the battery. Turned out the terminal was cracked. I had a spare positive terminal around the shop. Put it on and she fired right up. It did not have anything to do with the pressure wash. but in future I think I will stay away from the engine bay.

Glad to hear you got it fixed.

I wouldn't be too shy about pressure washing your tractor. Just don't direct the water at the dash area.

I pressure wash mine regularly and havent' had any problems. I personnally beleive that having the tractor clean so you can see developing problems is a worth while pursuit.

I've also heard a number of people talk about not being able to wash off the hydraulic fluid over flow on the back of the tractor.

I've found that spraying some cheap engine degreaser in a can on the tractors oily areas, letting it set then pressure washing it, makes it look like new again.
