EH63 ROBINS SUBARU ENGINE HIGH IDLE

I have an EH63 in a 2004 Polaris side by side that idles high (approximately 1600 to 1800 rpm). I could live with my mom that RPM, but at that engine speed, it grinds the transmission when shifting. Approximately 1000 hours on machine.

When i adjust the throttle idle screw lower the engine dies.

Is this a common issue with this engine, the engine runs strong otherwise, no smoke.

I am thinking possibly governor or valves, but any advise or opinions would be appreciated.

R u sure your adjusting the low idle screw.??
It should not shut off..

The only two adjustment screws I detect are the drain screw (part 18 & 19) and throttle adjustment (part number 22 and 23).

When I lower the throttle adjustment, it just dies. This is not a fuel air adjustment.

The main jet (part 4 ) and slow jet (part 17). Are clean and unobstructed.

New spark plugs

I bypassed the fuel pump and gravity fed fuel to confirm was not fuel pump.

Other than governor or valves, may also be the gap of the ignition coils to the flywheel.

For this application I have to pull the engine to remove the shroud, so am trying to diagnose it best I can before hand.
