I learn more from others (or me) doing wrong, then I know what not to do. I started both videos from EGR disassembly other good info in them.

Update.....


LS is still down. As the time window crunch slowly closes I have to make other arrangements to keep things rolling on the tree farm. Like using the 790 for blast spraying for bugs. Bugs, especially the white pine weevle are hard to get ahead of if they get started on tree damage.

As far as the LS goes, money is all that it takes to fix things like this frigg'n over done epa conundrum. The LS should be up and running by mid week some time.

One would hope, but one guy hasn’t had his unit for months… wild. And EGR issues aren’t that rare on these units. Seems that would be an efficient fix

Mine was really good till just last week, one year and a few months out of warranty. The egr unit that replaces the factory one needs other expensive stuff to work including a ecu program. I will keep this topic updated.

My mt357 was in the shop for 7 months trying to get the egr replaced. I thought my shop was just incompetent. Apparently it's a LS thing. If it wasn't under warranty I would have just deleted it.

Update....

I noticed when I took the egr valve off it was not dry and sooty neither. The residue was Kinda glazed and shiny.

So I pulled off the egr cooler and guess what, dry and sooty on the 'in' and shiny and glazed on the 'out'.... suns a bi%ch.

Prolly more of the reason why the dpf was 'severely' plugged then the failed egr valve.

Ya, the EGR coolers are often the issue… they can cause serious damage over time. Hope it’s a quick fix

Parts still 3 to 5 days out from last friday. 'SHOULD' be going later this week.

Have a feeling on the parts 'should' may have meant 'maybe'.

I recently had the new EGR kit installed on my 2022 MT 357 with 400 hrs. The LS installation manual says allow 3.5 hrs. The updated EGR valve requires more than just replacing the valve. Lot to remove including manifold. My dealer only had mine a few days. No problems so far.

I wonder why there are very few reports of EGR issues like this in the New Holland section on the Boomer series which is identical to the LS tractors of the same size. I would think they would have the same problems, or, are there so few New Holland Boomer tractors sold compared to LS? I agree that EGR on a diesel engine is bad for engine longevity due to the contamination of the intake side of the engine with soot and also lowers power output. Strictly installed to lower NOx emissions by lowering combustion temps and on the <75hp engines is enough NOx reduction to not require DEF. Gasoline automotive engines have used EGR for decades for the same reason but it also helps fuel economy since it lowers engine pumping losses. Problem with diesels is the exhaust is full of soot which increases contamination of parts it comes in contact with (enter the DPF) and when you add a suspect quality EGR cooler (which is installed to counter the effects on power of hot exhaust gas re-entering the combustion chamber) you add another chance of failure.
