I had to get 20' up into a tree today to cut some branches that were starting to hit the roof of my garage. I put up my ladder, tied the ladder to the tree with a ratchet strap, tied a rope to my EGO 16" saw with the smaller 2.5Ah battery to keep it as light as possible, climbed the ladder. Then pulled up the saw, tied it off to a comfortable length and went to cut. Noticed chain was a little loose, I know, should have checked that before I climbed the ladder. Took 30 seconds to readjust tension without having to climb down and get a tool. 3 cuts and I was done.
I will never take a gas powered saw up into a tree again. No fighting to try and start it while in the tree, or starting it on the ground and hope it stays running until you get in position. BTDT Just pull the trigger, cut and done.
My wife just bought a little 8" Dewalt battery powered saw for trimming. That thing is an impressive little powerhouse and I wish I had it available rather than the heavier EGO. But she took it to her house in NC for a few days.
