I don't expect to participate in any egg hunt this year, but I did just finish making 2 dozen deviled eggs, which is also what I'd do with the Easter eggs after the hunt.

From what I have heard from old timers, who were in the Dept when it was all volunteer back in the 1960's, we think this was about the 60th year for the egg hunt, best we can figure.

Bird, we used to do boiled/colored eggs. Then 12 years ago a flat of eggs got mixed up; it did not get boiled. Fortunately one of us dropped one and figured out what happened so we could tell folks. We had already hid most of them(I think it was 6 or 7 crates of eggs total).

That was a little embarrassing to explain :D So we switched over to plastic eggs and candy.

Just the time and effort required to boil and color that many eggs would be a good enough reason to go to the plastic ones.

The little local town here in TN had an Easter egg hunt at one of the parks. Had a bit of a surprise on the attendance! Our church overlooks the park; the pastor posted a photo showing the hundreds of kids and a caption saying "Easter egg hunt; began 11:30; ended 11:31".

Good that in some places there is still a lot of interest in this traditional religion-based family event.

My nephew has been at every egg hunt our Dept has done, since he was born. So this was his 11th egg hunt.

We have otheres show up, where multiple generations have come to the egg hunt since at least the 1960's.

The sort one on the left.

Actually, that is my nephew and I with the Bunny. I'm to big for the bunny suit :D

Friend posted on FB that they have given up trying to find all of the camouflage eggs that they hid for the kids. Seems that there is over $100 dollars hidden in those eggs that hasn't been accounted for!!!
