How long is a post available for editing? Is it based on time or post after? Do the moderators have the ability to extend editing time? - Just wondering-

There is an edit time window, it might be 24 hours. Moderators cannot extend this but can edit at any time. If you want/need an edit beyond the window let one of us know, we'd be happy to help /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

From the FAQ's............
You can edit or delete your own posts up to 12 hours after they are made

I wish they would extend the edit time to at least 48 hours. Or, make it indefinite. It might save on the number of messages posted if the original poster could go back and change things later.

It would also be easier on the Moderators. I had to contact a Moderator the other day to correct one of my messages and I am sure it is extra work for them.

Bill,

Thanks for the nice thought, but I don't consider helping any of you with resolving a problem as any extra work. And I'd be willing to guess that the other guys don't either. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It really isn't any extra work. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree, it's certainly more satisfying providing help when asked versus the potential of maddening people with the other kind of moderation duty. So bring on the requests, we're happy to serve /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I really appreciate your attitudes as moderators. The TractorByNet forum is one of the 2 best forums I have ever found on the Internet (the other one is a Jeep Liberty forum).

After being on the Internet for almost 10 years (I was an earlybird) I am still amazed at the spirit of most of the people. I have never seen a place where so many people were so willing to give of their time and knowledge to help other folks out.

I appreciate eveyone on this forum, ESPECIALLY the moderators.

The problem with editing later is that replies are generated from your post. Editing would change the post, thereby changing the "inspiration" for the reply.

Rather than editing over a longer time period, how about adding addendums (by the original writer) to posts? These addendums could have a time stamp, but would not change the actual post that inspired replies.

As to making extra work for the moderators, don't worry - that's what they get paid the big bucks for! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh, oh. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The secrets out! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

My wife always did say I was a cheap date! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

O.K. Frank. Who spilled the beans?

True, I have been known to occassionally misplace a ball or two, but a lot of them? Hmmm..... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The only person that could have mentioned that little fact to you would be the fellow I played with in October on one of the windiest days I've ever played. He lost more than I did, but it really didn't matter because we both ran out of balls! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif That's never happened before.

As far as getting paid with golf balls, I'd be willing to have that deal. But I get to determine what brand of ball! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
