Easy Water (Softener)

Anyone have experience with these units?

My current salt-based system is around 30+ years old and I thinking of replacing it.
It sure would be "easier" (ha) not have to buy and lug the salt around.

many years ago i saw a snake oil salesman selling a water softener that used magnets on the water line: they weren't cheap at that time, but i really have my doubts about the performance too..i think the salt based systems have made lots of improvements in the last 30 years, so you would be happier with that type system

The magnets work no doubt about it...

If you look you will find much cheaper magnets than many of the commercial "water treatment" products... any magnet will work (not on plastic pipe)...

It depends on how hard your water is to start with but the magnets do work...

My softener is only 15 years old, but we have pretty funky, iron, water. How do you know a softener is degrading?
