Easy Snowblade Shoes

While I was getting the blade ready and the chains on the tractor, I took some pictures of the shoes I built a couple of years ago to keep the blade from digging into the gravel driveway.

Just an 18" piece of 'strut, welded to a bent piece of 3/8 x 3" flat stock. They bolt to the existing holes in my Howse blade. (The ones for offsetting the blade to the left or right)

Without a pivot attachment, if the blade is angled at all, the gravel will be scraped away. At least my thought.......

A caster in place of the skid would solve that.

If you ever wear thoese shoes out when you make the next set try this. Take a piece of 4"x16" black iron pipe, cut a 45 drg. angle on each end. then split it lenght wise, weld the 45drg piece that you just cut off on each end. they wear well and work good when the blade is angled. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I will try to draw a sketch and up load it thru the scan process. Wife will end up having to do it for me as I don"t know how. Some of my finest hours are in my shop building things.
