Ear safety

I have a set of the peltor Work Tunes. Makes the mowing less boring. Work well.

I just used the last of my Bass Pro points to snag a pair of Walker's game ear muffs. I walked around with them on for a while yesterday. The do amplify
sounds and seem to muffle abrubt noises. I hope to really give them a workout during turkey season.

I have a ringing in my ears that is non stop and only seems to get louder so I am really trying to protect what hearing I still have.

The good thing about hearing loss, it's in the range when women's voices are...my wife no longer yells at me for ignoring her she just assumes that I can't hear. Life is bliss!

I got a set of the JD noise cancelling headphones for christmas, but havent had a chance to use them yet.. I do like the earbud noise cancelling listed above better though I have not seen them before. I could wear a boonie hat (better sun protection) with the ear buds, but not as easily with the ear muffs

you think maybe the wife has caused the ringin' ?? LOL

Being a aircraft toolbuilder/aircraft field mechanic/other aircraft manufacturing, I've lost my left side hearing and 20 percent of the right side. Last summer I finally got a hearing aid for the right ear. I can hear my little granddaughters now and most of what is being talked about in regular conversations. To much left side nerve damage to for a hearing aid to work. It has roared for the last 30 years now. Thats a result of not having ear protecton as a kid growing up on a tractor/guns and noisey manufacturing inviroment. Hope you young guys wear ear protection even with a weed trimmer or the wife :). Being legally deaf isn't fun.

If I'm on the tractor mowing/moving dirt or rocks and lately its been trees and tree limbs from blasted ice storms, for several hours a day I wear ear plugs and ear muffs over them.
