On the bottom - if they are even CLOSE to a corner, it'd be plenty strong - you'd have a pretty large triangle, with just a short part sticking out. That short part would need to bend or break before it'd be a problem, don't think I'd worry about that at all.
Top - that'll work, but is needlessly complicated by having to cut TWO angles on EACH end of the brace - strengthwise it'll be indistinguishable from a simple square tube brace with each end cut @ 45 degrees, even tho that looks like it'll leave a short "non-triangle" section just short of the second saw mount. I would just set up for 45 degree cuts, cut one end of that piece, push the "point" of the 45 into the far left corner with the cut aligned with the left saw mount bar - then mark where the front bar crosses the brace (probably from underneath, using the front bar as a ruler) - make THAT 45 degree cut (probably need to flip the piece over so it isn't backward) weld the 3 sides of both ends that are NOT gonna stick up into your saw base
- Then do the top welds; if you're using stick, I'd go with some pretty flat running rod like 6013, small diameter, and don't stop til you're at the other end
That way, if you need to grind it won't be that much, and it might even MISS where your saw base sets.
Underneath - yeah, I'm gettin' up there too, turned 72 in May - here's another thought; if you have enough headroom where you store the "porta-shop" you might wanna have those in/outfeed wings flip UP instead of down; whether that works for you or not, it sounds like some heavy duty drawer glides and at least one full-width drawer under the cart (like for saws, squares, long clamps, etc) might ease the pain. At least with drawers, it's usually a bit easier to get at the contents than if they're just on a SHELF.
Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if you're gonna need some kind of thin sheet directly under the saw, or else end up cleaning sawdust out of that drawer constantly...
You probly oughta stop listening to me; I'll have you STILL ENGINEERING this thing NEXT year at this time
