I have a choice this year for dust control on the gravel road in front of our home. The products are magnesium chloride or calcium chloride. What is the difference in the two products and is either one better than the other?

CACL loves metal... makes good tire ballast! ;)

I have done extensive research into dust control, myself. I was tired of dealing with a constantly dirty black car in the Summer. Here's a PDF web site that has an in depth discussion on Magnesium Chloride, how to, & how much to use. Depending on the length of your driveway, if you have the capability to spread it & can get it at a decent cost, this may be a viable alternative for you. You'd start looking for it at feed mills, or even a salt company, like where cities buy it from to treat roads in the Winter.
Hope this helps !
