Dump Trailer Fluid

i always heard atf was a 10w base.. but I'm no oil engineer nor did I stay at a HIX last night.

I'm guessing a 0w5 synthetic or something then?

This stuff is avail from auto parts stores around here and very similar to aircraft low-temp hyd oil that I purchase in 5 gals........$$$$$$

of course if the OP'r doesn't use it in the winter then ATF is fine.....

Well, there is a happy ending.

I got 5 quarts of Type F at Wally World, which was all they had. I thought it would take more.

The problem was not in the solenoid valve after all, just the wiring in the plug of the control box. The electric cord is now 3" shorter, but everything works.

There were about 2 quarts left in the reservoir, and the 5 quarts I had filled it to the fill line. I wish all the problems were this easy.
