I have a White 5100 4 row planter and have been having a hard time getting the fertilizer flow rate correct. Everything on the planter is adjusted to put 180#'s per acre but the fertilizer seems to get crushed by the augers and it binds up and restricts the flow rate. I have taken everything apart and cleaned it in the off season and ensuring the augers were put back in correctly after removal. All of the parts are in excellent condition.
The fertilizer is dry when I dump it in the bins, but does not take too much time before it gets a hard shell on the top. Does anyone know how to control the moisture and why the fertilizer is being crushed by the augers and not being pushed out palletized? Is there a moisture problem with the fertilizer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
