I like all the comments criticizing the onlookers for not "jumping onto the tractor and shutting it off? One missed step and you are dead.
I think the cops should have shot the rear window out, then the guy could have entered from the rear.
I didn't see any snow on the ground... wonder why he was even there?

Looks to me like the rear window was open. Would have been difficult to get in the rear window with that ballast box in the way...
Could this be another argument for HST???? :laughing:

Well, that's the nice thing about gear transmissions...you don't even need to be there to have 'em clearing the parking lot!! (Although I don't think clearing cars was the original intent!)
Some places with large parking lots (like that shopping center) have the equipment on the premises at all times. The shopping center my wife works at has a front end loader parked there all year long.
Last place I worked at (industrial park) had a big Deere (like that one in the video) on site all the time.

so question is what cost more. the tractor or each of the cars individually if they were all bought new!?
and ya only think them concrete bases for them light posts are made for folks running into them with there vehicles!
was actually waiting to see if wall on walmart building was going to be pushed in and collapse. that much tractor and head on. it would been bull dozing everything down inside.

On some tractors, that only works if the PTO is engaged.
My guess with this incident, the tractor may have had the key in the switch or had been idling and someone jumped in and put it in gear (then jumped out). Although an operator error (most likely), I doubt it was an authorized operator error.

Imagine being the owner of that SUV, trying to explain to your insurance adjuster how the damage was caused by a runaway tractor hitting it... and again... and again...

The owner won't have any problems...all he or she has to do is show that video to their agent.
However, the shopping center's (or whoever owns that Deere) insurance will probably cover any damages.
