drag/harrow

Im going to be dragging on dirt, just trying to even out the yard, and also the pasture to spread the manure out, I thought about a chain link fence but wasnt sure how to weight it, and make tines on it. Can you give the web for build it yourself.

I use a "store bought" one, but I've seen people string 5-6' of chain link between a couple of posts and get pretty good results. I've seen nails in the front post for tines but I wouldn't recommend it. If they come out you could get flats from them.

I used a disk. Disked till soil was like sand. Then hit it with a chain link fence hooked to R R ties. It did an OK + job. Fence came loose a couple times. Took a lot of time to do the fence tool. Today it's in pieces and if I want to make more grass land I'll have to spend more time rebuilding. If I had it to do over I'd look for an old harrow. Save time and $$ I believe.

I was fortunate to know that a tennis court had been razed recently and got a section of heavy chain link fencing that was 8'x16'. I doubled it over to make a nice heavy drag that's 8'x8'. If I need more weight, I can attach some heavy timbers (cross ties) on top. For now, I just drag it with a chain attached to the drawbar. Eventually, I'd like to rig it up attached to a boom pole so I can lift it in transport.

I've seen great result from an old bed spring (the really old, heavy ones).
