i took a cow and calf to the sale barn yesterday,
she was one of 2 i have that has horns, and she
had a tendency to use or at least threaten to use the horns...
i finally had to tie a rope around her horns and run it thru the
stock trailer and then to my ole JD tractor an pull
her into the trailer. she got to the edge of the
trailer and just laid down.the rope broke twice, and
she still wouldn't get up, i am glad to see her
gone. it took me over 2.5 hours to get her
loaded...but i learned a lesson..dragging works real
well..and after seeing a bull hanging by the horns under a helicopter on the boob tube last night, i don't feel so bad about dragging the cow. cattle must be a lot higher priced wherever they were doing that round-up using a helocopter.

Isn't that why they invented the cattle prod.

yep, a cattle prod is a good tool..i don't have one right now, but will get one.....BUT, i have seen how a cow reacts when hit with that prod....so i'm not 100% sure i would have used it to load this cow...don't want one trying to clear the 5ft cattle panels or going thru the side of the barn.
