Greetings from a new member. I've read plenty of helpful forums here before signing up. Thanks to all for that.

In Dec. 2016 I made the choice of a Kubota L2501 over the B3350. The option of a year-round cab in the Sierra foothills here was not part of my choice. Tractor weight was along with the fact that a mid-PTO was not needed since I'd use the tractor primarily for loader and road work. Having the DPF itself on the B3350 did not scare me away from that machine but the required Re-Gen program did. I sometimes only use the tractor for 15 minutes before I'm off on another chore or trip to town - I would dread having to baby-sit the tractor while it decides to Re-Gen just as I need to keep an appointment somewhere. While discussing the pros and cons of each of the 2501 vs 3350 with a dealer in Stockton he never mentioned that there had been a recall on the B3350s. He had every opportunity to fill me in on every detail of the issues of the DPF and Re-Gen but didn't bother to let me know of the history of the recall on that machine. I never called him back after I found out that info. So far, so good on my L2501 harvest return discounted tractor sold as new with a new warranty by a reputable dealer in Merced, CA. My wife now recognizes what a time and back saver "Dug" is.. She says 'Dug's a hunk'. The tractor should last a while having the benefit of living in the garage with the sports car since the 4x4 pick-up and high-top camper do not fit through the garage doors. My only regret is not having bought a tractor when we first moved to the mountains from the coast a few years ago.

After over 1000 hours on 2 dog equipped machines I had to do my first parked regen. We were transferring 1700 bushel of oats from an old bin into gravity boxes wagons Monday so we could fast load the truck when it arrives Monday. As we were feeding the 10 inch after with 2 4 inch augers, I just ran at an idle Monday. I forgot the off was over 90% when I started. Tuesday morning when I started the filter lights were on. I switched to dog and it was at 105% So I had to do a parked regen. Never having done one before, I called my wife and had her read it out of the book. #1 start engine. It was 16 degrees but started without glow plugs (my L5740 needed them starting at 45). Press the parked regen button. The tractor automatically raises engine speed and does its thing while I did some other work. When I got back, regen done, tractor ready. If it had reached the point Tuesday when it was running at speed for 540 rpm PTO since we were fast loading the 10" by 70 foot auger it would have done an auto regen but running at low speed Monday caught me, but in the end no time lost. Its still running 40% less fuel per hour than the L5740 and just topped 90 hours. My only complaint is moving brakes to the left side. 17 tractors and only my L6060 an GR2120 have left brakes.

Well I got rid of my dpf 3350.. took a b26 ,with all the bells and whistles..even ordered a laurin cab for it,heat,radio,wipers...also 64" inch kubota snowblower...waiting impatiently for it.......no chains or foam in tires...possibly rear extensions to help with stability ..neither dealer nor I have ever seen a b26 with cab.......any suggestions about this setup..?

:cool2::cool2::cool2:Well I just got back from dealer,..I dug a little deep in wallet,.i gave my b3350 back and took a b26 with rear blower, hydraulic thumb,3thrd function.and a laurin cab with heat/ radio wipers and such ......after I done the deal ( my ulcer pain) went away from dpf ...lol...I will post pictures when I have b26 in my possession .....I think it's going to be a little tank, with heat...

I say good for you and good luck with the new tractor. Life is too short to agonize over a bad purchase. I also wouldn't trust any new tractor with those new emission controls. I'm hoping that the old diesel engines will come back with the change in the White House.

At a minimum, I would have the back hoe plumbed for a thumb--or buy the whole shebang and get it with the thumb. Make sure also that you are getting the quick connect options for the bucket end.

(Forget this post, I see now where you are getting the thumb--great move!)

Well here's the new,2017 b26 with a laurin cab..it is very nice,heat/wipers front&back/radio..it is a little tight inside.glad I'm still flexible at my age...side windows open,so does rear..for cooling off in summer..rear window detaches and reattaches when you remove BH..so bring on the snow..I can't wait for next winter..I have the 64" rear kubota blower...with hydraulic shoots..also.3thrd function valve...so I think I'm ready.

That's a good report. I was looking at used L6060 and 5740. I ended up with a 5740 but mostly because of hydraulic hose and valve positions, not the DPF -- and also it was a little easier to find a low hour 5740 at the price I could afford. But overall I wouldn't mind at all having a recent Kubota DPF machine. The 5740 smokes more during start-up than the MX5100 and I haven't determined why, it runs beautifully after that.
They're both Tier 4 interim.

Lopez69 that's a sweet looking machine. Bet you can't wait to put it to work!

The 5740 smokes at start because of the timing. They ****** the timing for emissions. That can largely be cured by taking shims out from the injection pump module.

That is a very nice looking B26 Lopez69. I enjoyed mine for the three years I had it and almost put a Laurin cab on it but in the end opted to upgrade to an L45 and put the Laurin cab on that machine instead. After five years I can tell you the extra money I spent for the cab is well worth it as I have done a lot more cold weather work which I wouldn't have done without the heat. I went an extra step and added A/C through a third party on top of the roof and really like that down here in the Toronto area.

A few tips I will give you on the Laurin cab:

1) Be careful with the backhoe swing if you open the rear window all the way. On the L45 if you swing the hoe all the way to the left or right and then lift it will hit the rear window if it is open all the way. This will result in broken hinges and yes the voice of experience is talking here. That is why there is that little metal piece with the slot in it at the bottom of the rear window opening - open the rear window half way and use that to hold the glass and then the hoe won't hit it.

2) I found it a pain to remove the rear window from the backhoe enclosure and transfer it to rear of the cab for winter when I add my rear mount snowblower. I went to a glass place and had them cut me a piece of polycarbonate plastic to use as a rear window for the winter. Order two extra hinges and the rubber gasket to put around the plastic window from Laurin and you are all set for the winter. The factory tempered glass is very heavy and trying to remove it and reinstall it on your own is very difficult and time consuming.

3) As you point out it is a little tight in the Laurin cab and I found it almost impossible to use the pedal for the hydraulic thumb as it ships from the factory. I always leave the pedal down so I added a thick piece of plastic to the rear of the pedal so it would be easier for me to push it with my boots on. If you search on L45 and posts from me you will find photos of this modification I made for reference.

The B26 is a great machine and I am sure you will enjoy many warm winters in your Laurin cab. Nothing beats clearing snow in shirt sleeves in the middle of a raging blizzard.

Regards,

Lauren

Thanks for input Ihansman..I nearly broke rear window twice..lol...I did manage to break hinges on door though..arggh..I forgot I left it open and backed into fence post..lucky was just a hinge...also I took back half of cab off,I think I'm just going to leave it off..no work with open back part..much easier all around..I never work in the rain..and when it does..I hate working with mud..takes me longer to clean tractor than actually do the job at hand....but for now I do have rear blower on ,with window and heat...mmmm it's nice....I can't wait for the snow.....IMG_2431.JPGIMG_2432.JPG
