That was my fault.

I didn't expect the perl install to have any problems, yet it did, so we're going to put it off for a while (I'm thinking midnight on a weekend) until we're at an off-peak hour and try it again.

But don't worry. Things are still stable as long as I stay out of it.

I will, in the future, post a notice about downtime if I anticipate it. So I don't catch people off guard ever again.
