Rolando,

I have the Bobcat Utility Grapple.

Gald to hear you are back in business. Sticks/branches can find ways get at stuff you would never think possible.

That's interesting, I was wondering if it was the Bobcat grapple that you had. So apparently Bobcat does set up control of it's grapple as I would expect it to function.

Since the couplers I requested for my grapple are the Bobcat flat heads, it looks like it's an issue with my grapple manufacturer not knowing, or not thinking about, how the hose flow relates to the couplers for the Bobcat verses other companies.

Rolando.

A very similar thing happened to one of my Toolcats. It's a "B" series with a little over 400 hours.

During a scheduled service, they "power washed" the interior and filled up the fuse box with water shorting out the relays and causing the unit to act the same way yours did. The came and picked it up on Friday and started to look at it on Monday.

Thay are now telling me I have a "Rat" problem. Funny, we don't have rats at 4000 ft. They are saying that the wiring harness needs to be replaced at approx. $900.00 in parts and 4 to 5 hours in labor.

I drove 2 hours each way to look at it yesterday and it does not look like a "critter" as there is no evidence of a nest, etc. I'm going to lok at my other unit (that has less hours) to see if the same thing is starting to happen to it as well. I suspect it is a chaffing issue, and not from an animal. I have pictures they sent me. I would be curious if it looks the same as yours Rolando. When I drove to look at it after the Service Manager told me that it was "Rats", the technician and Service person told me "Rats" don't like wiring....

I am sorry about all of your problems!! I am on my third Toolcat. Bobcat has given me a 3 year extended warranty because of all of the problems. I had metal in the systems of both 2&3. I only have 130 hours on my new #3 "C" series. I love it when it's working!! The cargo bed is now crooked because one of the hydraulics appears to be frozen and it will have to be taken in for service again. I too hope all of this trouble has a happy ending!! fresh2ob

I guess I should not complain when I read about the problems others on this site have had. I'm still a little perplexed regarding the "rats" diagnosis. I have check out the other Toolcat and there is no evidence of any thing disturbed around the wiring harness, let alone any evidence of "nesting". When I pick the unit up in the next day or so I think I will take the wiring harness to a client of mine that works in a forensics lab and see what he can make of it. He told me that he can do some tests and tell if it was an animal or "tool" that caused the cuts. Should prove to be interesting...

"No rats at 4000 ft"? I have recurring problems with rats chewing through wiring on my PUs and other vehicles at 8000ft! Often there is evidence (sometimes a lot) of nesting and other times not. Some of the wires have been cut so cleanly it looks like wire cutters were used while others have just had the insulation chewed.

I set traps in the engine compartments, wired in place so they don't run off with them (found one 40 ft from the truck with dead rat caught by the leg).

Good luck.....Boy do I HATE rats!!!!

Rats at 10,000 ft? Amazing! I have lived in my town since 1969 and have never seen a rat, either dead or alive. One of my kids is a pest control operator and he has never found/killed one here either.

I have also spoken with other people in town that have had different equipment stored outdoors over the past 30 years, and they have never had a problem with rats or any other critter chewing wires.

It will be interesting to see what my client says. As I mentioned before, there was absolutely no evidence of any nesting, or pieces of the woven loom on the ground, or anywhere else for that matter. It has to be chaffing, or something along those lines.
