Sell them! :)

From a Craig's List ad:

Landscaping Rocks - $500

Great for walking paths, patio decorations, or lawn decor. They are valued at more than $1000 dollars.

I don't know about $1000, but those are some decent flat rocks for walking paths. Depending on how many of them there are, somebody might pay for them.

Probably use for a no bid government project.

I have been depositing rocks for many years in a ravine that was caused by water run off many years ago before we bought this property. There are hundreds upon hundreds of rocks there in all different shapes and sizes. Perhaps, I have enough to finally buy a tiller that I have had on my Wish List. I might even have enough money left over to buy something nice for my Wife, and take our Children and Grandchildren out to dinner. :D

if you are going to sell them get ready for some very hard work, they need to be stacked on a pallet and wrapped in wire for shipping

All rocks are not equal. Rocks out of a quarry are worth what you pay by weight. Smaller rocks of a foot or two size with character - read aged with moss, etc. - can go to landscapers for rock gardens... Usually for a few bucks a piece. However, great big rocks - 3 feet or more one dimension and taking a big tractor to move... If weathered and natural looking, can bring a lot when you find someone in the area doing major landscaping. Some guys nearby got $300 for two hefty rocks that were used at the entrance of an apartment complex. And it's a good way to clear fields too.

I've seen excavating contractors deliver rocks on 35 ton detachable trailers where 3 or 4 rocks made a load.

I'm quite certain they were paid well for them.
Dry stonework and natural pavers are big business.

some times I wouldn't mind selling a few of the rocks on our property. I never have to buy stone for building retaining walls or planting beds. I just have to decide which of the 11tybillion I've got will fit there next. My avatar has a partial harvest. I have "tons" more where they came from :)

All natural mountain stone manufactured by Ma Nature.

When he says they're valued at more than $1000, it sounds like he had someone come in an appraise them. He probably stands around the rocks with his friends, drinking beer, and telling 'em "yeah, I had 'em all appraised, if I wanted, I could turn around tomorrow and sell em for $1000 bucks."

Not all profit in selling rocks. Fed. tax is 35% and in Ark state tax 10% county now has tax one sale of any type of material off the land. so what ever anyone says it adds up in a hurry.

And the state is wanting to get more so state wide vote is going to decide. The city people that don't own land is going to have say in how much the state can take as there portion .,

Sure do wish I had some rocks. The wife could find lots of projects for me to do with them.

We have a dry ditch running across 1000' of our property small pond about 30' at one end and a low spot at the other. This is were we are going to dig a pond.
She wants to rock the ditch between ponds. Put a pump in the low end. Pump up to the small pond and waterfall it off so she will have a 1000' creek from pond to pond. I told her to keep dreaming if I had the rock i'd probably do it. But with no rocks I would not even price that project.

Just drilled 30+ 3 ft deep post holes, 6 and 12 in dia, and never saw even a pebble. The only rocks we have here on the property are the in the pit run we brought in for the driveway. Guess we will always be poor as we have no rocks to sell, when they get to be worth more than US dollar.
