Well guys after nearly a year of looking I have finally done a deal /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. It is for the B2150 HST with FEL and BH I posted about recently. I took the advice that several of you offered and got a tractor engineer to go and have a look at it, he 'phoned tonight to say that he can't fault it and only found one problem, a small oil leak on the backhoe. He mentioned it to the dealer who is going to fix it. He said that he didn't warn them that he was going he just turned up so that they couldn't warm it up or anything /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. It started first time and runs really well. He said that it is as good as they said it was and that someone had been there and offered cash but they turned it down as they had promised it to me /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

I can't wait to take delivery of it, I just have to send them a cheque and then arrange for someone to pick it up for me /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif. I will post some pictures when it arrives - just got a digital camera this week. It will be at least a week so that gives me time to make some room in the garage for it /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif.

Of course as I have only driven one a few yards it will take a while to be confident on it. I will probably be posting numerous questions on how to operate the FEL and BH /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif. If anyone has any tips for a beginner I would be grateful.

I would like to thank all you guys who have responded to my posts for help in making a decsion and to Muhammad for his informative book.

Regards

Congratulations! The B2150 is a fine machine. As mentioned before, I have the B2150 HSD tractor and FEL, but not the BH.

How far are you from RAF Mildenhall? I pass through there every now and then and usually spend a night or two. If your are reasonably close I wouldn't mind getting a chance to check out the backhoe!

Again, congratulations on your purchase. It sounds like you'll be very happy with it.

Thanks guys for your comments. I woke really early - well early for me /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif - must be that I'm getting a bit excited /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif.

After looking for so long I didn't think that I would be able to find exactly what I wanted as there are so few good compact tractors available over here, so I was pleasantly surprised when I managed to find this one. Of course, I still haven't seen it apart from a very small picture in the publication, but after getting the report from the engineer I'm not worried about it.

I know from your comments and the posts I've seen that the B2150 is a good machine so I can't wait to get in some seat time. I intend to just take it easy and get used to all the controls before doing any work with it. This may look like I am playing /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif, but of course you guys know better /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

I found out this week that there is a new Kubota dealer open just over the road from where I work. I intend to do the servicing myself, if it isn't too difficult, but it is good to know that there is someone 15 miles from home. The previous dealer has just lost the franchise which is hardly surprising as they didn't inspire much confidence.

Jag:

The backhoe is the KL210 - Spec. I don't know how it compares to the model you get over there.

John & Mike:

Yes, I'm really glad I passed on the Honda. Being patient really paid off in the end /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Kelvin:

We are 550 miles from Mildenhall, right up in the Highlands of Scotland not far from Loch Ness /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif.

Hi Andy…

Here’s some Kubota B2150… reading material to keep your mind occupied until you get your girl home…/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Andy,

Congratulations, finally! I knew your patience would pay off. It sounds like the perfect tractor for your needs and the backhoe may help you flatten some of the hills at your place./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Take it slow as you are learning the limits of the tractor with your terrain. I found that loading the rear tires added a great deal of stability to my B21 so you may want to consider that. A tooth bar for the loader not only made the loader a more effective tool for digging, it also helped stabilize the tractor while doing backhoe work.

We will be up your way during the second week in May. Maybe by that time you will have gotten off the tractor and back to work while we are in Inverness./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well done Andy. You seem to have done as much as you could have and the dealer sounds to be honest, so lets hope all works out for the best. Enjoy.

I have been compiling a list of all the jobs that I can do when it arrives, keeps getting longer which is fine by me. One job on the list is to bury the 'phone line so that I can't set fire to it again /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif.

John:

Thanks for the link. It makes some interesting reading, I think I will have to print out those pages and put them in the binder with Muhammads book for easy reference.

Thomas:

I was thinking that I should have a new sig, I will have to have a look and see what I can find. There again I may just keep the little guy as a reminder of what it was like 'before tractor' /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

Mark:

Tooth bars just don't seem to be available over here. I have asked before at the dealers but I just get blank looks. There is someone over here who manufactures complete buckets with 'digger teeth', but I don't think they do the bars on their own. I have mailed Steve Carver who is happy to ship one to me but I think that the shipping charge may be high as I am sure these items aren't lightweight. I may have to design one myself and get it made locally.

May 6th is a bank (public) holiday over here so no work /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. I hope the weather will be like it has been for the last three weeks when you visit, plenty of sun but not too warm. Hope you all have a great time!

You realise that I will bore you all with pictures when it arrives. Thanks again to all for your comments and encouragement.

Regards
