This IS JUST LIKE MY JEEP /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I was unloading my scraper from the trailer to get the measurment for the top link (Thanks for the info AV8ER) and after hooking the chain and bringing the bucket up I released the brake to inch forward and did not put the tractor in gear. DUMB DE DUMB DUMB... did not hit hard but I could hear the plastic of the headlight crumble /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
It was not that bad but well you all know how it is.
Well I guess I will be picking up more than my top link monday, you know headlight and GRILL GUARD.

The grill gaurds are real handy. On my property I had alot of junk I was clearing, and find the grill gaurd almost worth it's weight in gold. The top of my gaurd is pretty well scuffed up, but the paint on the hood is still perfect. There is another guy on TBN selling aftermarket grill gaurds on ebay. Haven't seen one in person but there is an ebay auction on right now for one (I saw it the auction the other day). He's asking $90 for them, but I don't know how much a Kubota guard sells for though.

Steven,

If you weld or know someone who does, you could make a grill guard for much less than you can buy one. Attached is a pic of one I made. The metal came off the scrap pile, so its cost was minimal.

I might add some expanded metal for more protections and I want to have someone plasma cut my handle "Captain Kubota" to mount in the opening sometime........

Pic #2--how it mounts.

The angle is a spacer for now......... I need to trim the cross piece later to give more clearance to the front of the BX.

Yea I had my eye on the one guard w/out the bx logo. But just became unemployed and was on the fence about it. Now hopefully another will pop up. I think they are about 160 bucks from the dealer, I am trying to remember another post on them I saw. Oh wait a minute, just bought one, the only real diference is the factory one makes it hood high these do not.

Yea I thought about making my own, but I am still a little frustrated over the headlight, one of those I will get to it and probably never will type deals. I have to many projects see my post about my jeeps /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Plus I am really starting to look into building the grapple. I did like the clevis mount, on your bumper. Also did you use a torch to bend the flat bar ? That was another sumbling block since someone stole my tubing bender /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.
I really want to build a guard that covers more of the top of the hod that would fold out of the way for access. If you have ever seen those safari guards on the land rovers. I want to add a set of lights above the hood but not as high as the rops, thinking maybe on the bucket arms but again to many projects and now no money to do them, but plenty of time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, used a torch to heat/bend the top radius. Then cut the ends flush for the proper length.

I found leaving a clevis on the front and rear speeds my tie down time on the trailer and doesn't skuff the orange/gray. In fact, I just unpin the clevises after loosening the binder and drive over the chains. Time = Money.

These things are going to happen.
The first time I used my tractor, I was digging some tree stumps out and ran up on one and bent the front steering rod guard back into the steering piston rod. I had to stop and remove it. I ordered a new one then bent the old one back out so I have an extra now.
The next day I was bringing home my brand new trailer and didnt realize that the drop leg jack had dropped on the way home. It caught the edge of my blacktop drive and tore the end of it off.
Then theres the hole in my vinyl siding from swinging the loader around too soon, that just matches some of the trees around here.
The first time I mounted my BH up, I pinched the low pressure hydraulic line between the 3PH arm and BH frame.
Those are just my Oopps off the top of my head.

Do not feel to bad I got the tail light first day.

/ DOH! My first damage #11
Yea, it happens but I must admit I've been pretty lucky so far, only one tail light but that doesn't count the stuff I've hit while looking back, mowing the yard, with the FEL attached. I very rarely do that anymore. Let's see now ... section of fence, various pecan and ornamental trees that my wife had planted, not to mention all the stuff that just got "dinged".

As I said, it happens, we fix it and go on.

Shoot. I about ripped my garage door right off the house when I forgot to fold the ROPS before driving out. OUCH!

Thanks for the support, had to say you made it easier to deal with:) I had my jeep for about 2 hours when I put a hitch on and was checking to see how a short wheelbase vehicle with a 5.5 x 8 with a 42" knack box on the front performed while side steping a small weed covered hill, well I romped on the throttle and watched the top of the hill come into view with a loud crunch, yep knack box into rear quarter panel. I grabed 4WD and did not look at it for three weeks /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Shoot My dealer broke the tailight off my brother in laws trailer when I went to pick my BX up. They had it in the shop prepping it and he told me to pull the trailer over to the bay and he would go in and get it ready to load. I pulled over to the bay and he backed the tractor right out into the side of the BORROWED trailer and broke the tailight of and into little pieces. I told him not to worry about it as it was a cheapy $7 tailight but he instead gave me a $30 rachet tiedown to secure the tractor to the trailer on the way home. All I had brought was a tow strap.
Been luck so far in not (knock on wood) hitting anything at the house other than limbs and such. but I did catch my hand between a limb and the ROP and I think I cracked a bone in my hand. Other than that it's been all good so far, but I only have 25 hours so there is plenty of time to bang something before it's all said and done. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"the only real diference is the factory one makes it hood high these do not".

Steve,
I'm the gentleman that you bought the guard from. Thanks you for your purchase, it was shipped today. Just for your info, the guard is the same height as the factory "BX" model. I just called Messick's parts dept. today and was quoted a price from Mike of $212.80 for the BX logo guard. I have no idea where everyone is coming up with $160 /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. I am absolutley sure you will enjoy the guard you got from me. Any problems, let me know.

Bill

Have you considered making a guard that incorporates the brackets for the Kubota front suitcase weights, or just the suitcase weight bracket by itself?????

/ DOH! My first damage #18
Or the clevis mount bumper? Maybe even hooks or eyes?

kubotabilly,
for some reason I thought the factory one did, heck even better deal then /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I have to say I prefered the three bar over the logo one much more. And trust me that was not a slam on your product I am looking forward to getting it so I can replace the headlight assembly. Thanks Steven

/ DOH! My first damage #20
Steven,
By all means it was not taken as a slam. I guess I like to just clarify things. To tell you the truth I like the 3 bar better myself. It makes it look like it's ready to tackle that brush pile!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
