thank … we will be following Tom Dokken's retriever training methods which lots of it i was doing but he brings structure and some very good pointers so anxious to see how it goes but lab are so easy to train you just can’t go wrong with them.

Thanks all. It's been 2 years last month and it's better but not gone. The kids asked me the other day if we were getting another dog and the part that ripped a deep gouge was agreeing it was time to move on. The 3 and 5 y/o have no clue but the 11 and 14 y/o need a new buddy.

In regards to your post above, I used to think that I needed to wait a long time before getting a new dog. I always get rescue dogs, often dogs that were sent back after their initial adoption*. Then I came to the realization that the longer I waited, the longer a resucue dog was not placed in their forever (my) home. I ended up waiting 1 -2 months between dogs.

*as long as it was not sent back for aggression.
