Puppy likes to get on the scale to check her progress.
Just sits there until we help her down.
One of the cutest pics I ever took.

One of my cattledogs once chased a doe out of a field as she had done dozens of times before. Little did either of us know that there was a fawn hidden nearby. As the dog was returning to me all proud of herself, up comes momma from behind us with bad intent. I was able to get the doe to back off but I am glad I turned around when I did. Just glad it wasn't one of our elk. we don't have moose here, I would not want to be around an upset momma moose.
I've been there and you're right; it was not a pleasant experience. She charged twice and was just 17 feet away when she turned each time. I didn't dare retreat because I had no idea where the calf was, and didn't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I put a tree between us which wasn't much bigger around than my arm and just hoped she wasn't serious.
Luckily my pup had been spayed that week so wasn't with me; she would have tried to take the cow on.

FYI that encounter was with a New Hampshire moose; it seems that even the wildlife there take the state motto seriously. :D

WOW! New tractor and a new puppy! You're doing something right!
Yeah, I put a deposit on the puppy back in May when our old dog died. He was such a good dog that I went right to the same breeder and reserved one before the litter was born. As for the tractor, I decided to upgrade last spring and had informal “please call me” arrangements with five dealers. I just happened to get the call from the dealer in Bayfield, CO a month ago. So all these riches came at once.

Spicy is now 7 months old, which means that she can compete for points. She went to shows before she turned 6 months old and did well, but they are just practice without any meaning to them. Yesterday she didn't behave very well, and didn't do anything. Today she was good, and she earned 3 Major Points. Major means that there are at least 8 Akita's in the show. In order to become a Champion, she need to Major points from two different shows. This show was worth 3 points. She needs one more Major and then the rest of the 15 points needed can be from smaller shows, which are easy to get.

She will go to another show next weekend, and then to Florida for the Nationals, which will be a Major. It's the AKC show that is shown on Thanksgiving. Weird that it's right after Thanksgiving, but maybe she will be on TV when it's aired next year?

The lady in the picture is her Handler. She is 25 years old and travels all over the country showing dogs. Her Wire Hair Fox Terrier has won multiple Best In Show's and is one of the top dogs in the country. She is very good at showing dogs!!!!
