DieselBound - I would be estimating - between 60 to 65 pounds. Have you ever tried to get a Lab puppy to stand on bathroom scales? He couldn't quite figure out what the game was but he was sure anxious to play. At his age - EVERYTHING is a game.

Pick him up and get on the scales, then put him down and weigh yourself. They're great dogs, and the only kind that I would have. The smarter the dog though, the more attention they need. My last lab used to sit in the truck watching kids play and drooling, she wanted to join them so badly. Ruger is just recovering from surgery after wrecking both knees this summer, he wants to go bird hunting but needs to wait this season out. :(

Son came home with a chocolate lab that was a stray running around the woods. He named him biscuit and they were inseparable for years. Biscuit actually saved him once. Son was out hunting and got into a water mocasin nest  fell into the water when he was surprised. Biscuit swam between the snakes and my son. Got ate up in the groin in the process. Biscuit pulled through and survived the bites, but cancer got him a couple years later.

That's the truth!!!! Plenty of training time and play time makes it so much easier and less destructive

Our shepherd is really smart, had plenty of play time. But she was a land shark till we got her engaged more. She really took to a fast paced obedience training. She started out in puppy school at one of the local pet stores. She did fantastic with the training, but it was evident that she got bored with the repetiveness and slower pace. A couple of times working with her on something and she had it down packed.

After puppy school we went to a private trainer instead. The pet store sessions were 20 minutes of working with the dog followed by 40 minutes of sales pitches which left us frustrated since we were paying for an hours worth of class each week for her and us.

The private trainer specialized in personal protection and police dogs, but also did obedience training. She went for obedience training and thrived on it. Learning a couple new commands each week plus reinforcing what she learned already. They made it challenging for her with the distractions which were dogs doing bite work and running scenarios or obstical courses.

Some of the lessons were turned into games for her which she really enjoyed

Al these dog pics are cute but this one is especially nice. Looks like a happy home for them.

Thanks, Sixdogs. My daughters dogs are getting more attention than they have in the past (she works), and they are enjoying every minute of it.
