All my dogs have been rescues. Some are not without work but all have been very rewarding. My most recent is a Border Collie cross Whippet (not stop lightning bolt) that was traumatized in her previous life. VERY good dog, but I am still her one and only. Warming up to others is still a work in progress after a year, baby steps.

Ours took a couple years to fully warm up but are now the best dogs we have ever had. We are inseparable best friends forever.

Here's Cosmo. Got him from the Humane Society three years ago.

Dogs are pack animals. They become depressed and die young without siblings. Cosmo has sadness in his eyes. Please consider another rescue for him.

Another hike with Molly this past Wednesday. Still plenty of snow and ice on trees and lakes.

Wow! A kerosene can and a blow torch! I'm betting you could get a roaring fire going in no time! Reminds me of the time when I used to have to fill the jug with kerosene that provided fuel to Mom's old kerosene cook stove. Each burner had a wick, not unlike a lamp, only larger. Quite a beast. Haven't seen one in many, many years.

The kerosene can and blow torch came from my grandfather. He was giving some things away a few years back, so I snagged them for conversation pieces :D Eventually my wife wants me to make a lamp out of the kerosene jug.

Blow torch still has fluid in it and still works ;) Both get relocated in the winter when we use the fireplace :)

You have to be really careful around Akitas, they're vicious, aggressive animals. I darn near drowned in dog spit...

Just got a new dog, a guy named Ron I used to work with got sick a few years back, he came into work, complained he wasn’t feeling good, went home and never came back. Arteries were blocked, 100% on one side and 50% on the other, to this day he’s still bed ridden.

Ron and his wife had two Sheppard’s that they got threw my boss, one was a sister to one of my bosses dogs, the other was a daughter to my bosses dog. My boss and Ron were/ are good friends. every Monday Ron, a guy from 3rd, my boss and I used to golf together, we did that for a few years.

Ron’s wife got to the point that she decided she needed to give up the dogs, my boss took one and I said I would take the other. I didn’t really want two dogs by myself but Ron was a good friend so I took her in. Her name is GiGi, my dog’s name is Max. Max is a bit bigger than she is, Max is the dog with the red collar.

It’s only been a day but she seems to be doing well, she didn’t cry the first night like I suspected she would, she’s been pretty quiet so far, I wouldn’t say she’s best friends with max but Max doesn’t mind her following him around lol, she’s deff a dependent dog of other dogs, she just follows his lead and does whatever he does, which is good because he’s a very smart and highly trained dog. She doesn’t know really any commands...... Yet.

Agree. They both look content and comfortable with each other.

Dinner last night, treats for this morning.

Kind of SOP when I have to take the dreaded last visit to the vets.

Cried like a baby, but she had a good run for at least the last 13-15 years of her life. She went out as healthy as possible, which is always makes the decision that much more harder IMO.
