Does anyone know how to calculate the volume of this figure?

We got there different ways, but that's the same answer I got. Now how many yards of dirt are on a tri axel truck? Concrete isn't in the budget. We'll fill most of it with dirt and then gravel.

When I asked how many yards of slag were in a tri axle truck, the guy said it was a 20 yard truck, but they sell it by the ton! Had to do another calculation for tons per yard. :laughing:

If I was estimating yardage i would allow for 66.8 yard of fill for a ball park number. (Math refigured)

I usually figure about 2850 lbs per cubic yard of gravel, sand a bit more, assuming its all dry. Quite a bit of variance in such matters

Compacts even better if its DAMP. Key word there, very wet and your compacter will be hard to operate

I plan on using whatever we spread the dirt with to compact it. Since we aren't in a hurry I'll let it get rained on a few times.

There are many solutions on the net. Take a look at this one. I did not take solid geometry in HS and would probably have forgotten the whole mess by now. I will bet any HS 4.0 math student could do it in a heart beat.

Oh, man ... I had one of those serious cranial flatulences yesterday. Needed the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle, and had one side and one acute angle. I could remember after 34 years how to get it with two sides, but not this way. Had to resort to an internet calculator. A sad moment in mathematical history.
