So you must be one of the people looking for toilet paper. If you find some maybe limit it to 48 rolls so other paranoid people can get some.
We've got enough for a while. I'm sure the prices will be going up.
No I'm NOT.
My Grandfather was a Mormon and he and my parents instilled in me ALWAYS have a good supply of necessities, beans, bullets, water, cleaning supplies. I keep a rotating supply as best as I can. Knowing my "critical" needs and stocking up when the price is low is critical.
I'm down to about a 4 month supply of TP, I'm sure the price will go up and down.

I find it interesting that they want a VERY good pay check, $177,000 per year and a promise that they won't automate their jobs. I would think they would say "we'll take a pay cut if you don't automate our jobs." Fire them all and built the robots. The reason the kid at McDonalds gets $20 bucks an hour is because of the lack of workers. Put the dock workers back in the workforce and wages will come down to reasonable. I know, it's not magic like that. Oh, and shut down the welfare, people will go back to work. Know why everything you buy costs so much? Because people get paid so much. Except the Chinese, but look at what that is doing to our country. Sorry, I'm ranting.

I like to keep ahead although not to that degree. When it comes to TP, I usually buy an 8 pack or bigger when I'm down to 3 rolls or so.
In 2020 I had heard about the shortages but didn't think anything of it until I went to buy some one day. There were 2 packages on the shelf; 2 rolls and a bulk pack. I took the 2, and left the big package for somebody else.

I've seen this $177,000 per year number a few places, but can't find a source.

Who's asking for 177? I've seen that they want increases from their current top of $39/hr and even with their previous demand that was nowhere near $177k by the end of the contract.

There was a dock worker that reported he can make $200,000 a year, but had to work all overtime … like 80 hrs a week.

But in that 80hours, they probably do 4 hours of work….

Get a bidet and you might double your time to supply of toilet paper.

let's see

$39/hr, 40 hours/week, is about $78k/year
to get to 100k, which is +22k, would take 376 hours, or almost 8 hours of overtime per week (at time-and-a-half).

You know?
I'm ok with that. You should be able to make $100k today with 48 hours/week.

200k:
so that's an extra 122k.
That would take an extra 2085 hours at time-and-a-half, or an extra 40 hours a week.

You'd begrudge someone making $200k a year for working 80 hours a week?

Here I thought they were lazy, but instead you're crying because someone literally killing themselves at work (you can't work 80 hours a week all year long without substantial damage to your health, never mind the workplace safety problems incurred by working when you're over tired) is making 200k?

Maybe I misunderstood your post, you must be pro-union with a line like that.
These people clearly need better representation by their unions to force the employer to hire more workers and provide a safer workplace.
As a dairy Farmer we worked 7 days a week with a short day starting at 5:00 AM and ending at 8:00 PM so I have no sympathy for someone working 80 hrs week. Highly doubt dock workers did more manual labor or operated equipment that was much more dangerous than farm equipment.

Ok, that works. In a previous post I showed $39/hour, 80 hours/week, I think would be $200k.

If someone can work 80 hours a week, getting all that overtime, there's a management problem... or it's their last year at the PD before retirement (arguably still a management problem, and fraud as well).

They need to hire more people and schedule them right.
