Do your own Fluids and Filters on a BX

Not likely. They just gun in sudt in everything during assembly. That's the local theory anyhow. BTW, they all come "low". Can't be helped. What the dealers should stress to the BX buyer is to check it in 5 hours, 'cause it will almost always take some. Mine took a pint or more.

Same here...I did not add any until the 100hr service...It did not say anywhere in the manual to check it ...I think I also overfilled it :ashamed:...(like the other fluids)...:D

Is this your first tractor? I think I've had my BX25 a year give or take a month and now have 75 hours on it but I've been landscaping for seven years and don't use mine for mowing or snowing. You'll have 1000 hours on your before I make 200 if you keep it up.:)

JohnThomas what does "Bump" mean? And thanks to you and BP for real useful info on the B and BX service. I too had not checked the front axle when new but later found that it was a quart low, not evening touching the dip stick. The dealer never mentioned this possibility. Anyhow, I just changed the front axle (at 160 hours), using Kubota 80W-90. It didn't take the 5 quart capacity, so I was about to drain some down to the proper level. But now, with BP's comment, I'll run it awhile and see where it levels out. The 50 hour service was a breeze, but I like getting greasy, burning my arms and busting my knuckles and cussing. :licking:

"Bump" means to bring the thread (usually an important one) back up to the top, so folks who haven't seen it before can.

Generally not a good thing.

Urban Dictionary: bump
I guess you don't approve of the "bumping" of an old thread.
I did the original post with pictures. Several other long time and newer contributing members to this forum added additional information that has been appreciated by many newer readers.
Thanks for your input.:)

Bumping is highly frowned upon on some forums.

Easiest way to "bump" without "bumping" is to put in a link if you wish to re-direct someone to a previous, older thread. If they or someone else comments, it gets bumped naturally.

I haven't seen the mods get too hepped up about it here, though.

Front Axle: I don't believe in over-filling as it may be hard on seals. Run it full, but no more. Check and re-check in a week or two.
