In Colorado there are counties that will issues a hunting permit for drones for $25. If you have one and its over your property and your property is in an area where you can discharge a firearm then your clear to drop the thing.
We had a very large hawk drop a neighbor kids drone, it was hilarious. Not a big drone just a small <6inch stunt drone but the hawk thought it was interesting enough to attack. The hawk hit this thing like he'd hit a pigeon, and then flew off with it.
It's easier than you think. Regarding crashes...I think this thing has nine lives. I actually dropped it in a river once by hitting a branch I never saw. I let it dry out real well and it actually worked again....perfectly. Nobody on that forum could believe it. After shooting the video you watched I was doing a low fly by and was not paying attention to where I was in the field and drove into the ground on a hill. Couple broken props but no damage to gimble or camera. The guy missed it with his marker disk by a foot. It's on the ground and I'm watching this disk coming right at it thinking it was a goner. Yeah, I edited that out!Very nice video!!!!! Looked perfectly shot to me!!!! Thanks for posting.
Looks very complicated to me. Have you crashed it doing stuff like this?? I'd run it into the ground or something stupid while focusing on shooting pics/video.![]()
Nicely done... somewhat surprised that it was overexposed. I haven't had that issue with my Phantom 3.I also have a DJI Phantom III Pro.
I was trying some new filters when I shot this. A bit over exposed in some cases. This is the farmer I lease my tillable acres to for crops.

To be honest Richard, unless you have to have 4K resolution which most can't handle with TV playback, don't waste another $400 or so. I love my Phantom 3 advanced and I should use it more. That said, cost per flight is much cheaper for the same pleasure, III vs. IV. The resolution on my 3 is plenty for my 60in plasma HD 1080 screen. Amazing footage.Okay. You guys have me interested. I'd like to buy a drone. I'm leaning toward a DJ1 Phantom 4. Maybe Phantom 3 if you tell me 4 isn't worth the cost. So what do you think? Where should I buy? What drone should I buy? First time drone buyer. Uses will be video and pics of 4 wheeling events. Thanks for your input.![]()
