Do John Deere dealers generally negotiate?

The reason the local Kubota guy couldn't stay in business is he couldn't come CLOSE to giving the customer service that JD was giving. plus he didn't know how to negotiate, his shop was terrible, and instead of having tractors that horse farmers want to buy, homeowners, etc. he tried to keep a lot full of 90+ hp tractors and butt heads with Deere/Case/NH in the ag market and got a rude awakening.
Customer service and market demand are the two most important things to know BEFORE opening any kind of business. Sounds like he didn't have much of either.

Deere has their act together in these parts. so does Case and NH.
In many parts, it seems that Kubota, CNH, MF or others have their act together and Deere does not. All depends on what kind of operation the dealership owner is running.

I really couldn't care less about all the bad JD dealers people seem to ***** about all the time. Seems to me those folks got their panties in a bunch at one time or another, so they feel better somehow by bashing Deere. Around here and most parts of the country a vast majority of the folks that depend on their equipment to make a living do it on top of JD equipment. That equipment is backed by Deere dealers.

Hello:

I've been to 5 different JD dealers. All have been very nice and helpful. I did not get prices from all of them because at the time I was shopping.

Our local dealer has a huge inventory and is selling units like hot cakes.
A Deere in every yard?
NO kidding there are a HE!! of a lot of folks in the area that are running New Deere's.

The only dealer that I came across that was less then nice was a Kubota.

NOw talk about, "There's only one tractor in the world and they are here. Buy one or get the heck out.

Around here, you're invisible and when you can get them to talk to you, take it or leave it is the attitude, that's some of the reasons I got orange.
'Round here I had the same attitude from Green AND Orange, so I went Red

I wanted a loaded 5045E with loader, roof, & stuff in 2011. Local dealer had to order one. Dealer an hour away had a new one but 2010 model exactly as I wanted it sitting on his lot - got it for almost $5k less.

Delivered free.

Love the tractor.

Wow, I just noticed how OLD the OPs thread is (2008)! I'm curious why this thread and the others in today's email were all started ~2010 (or earlier)!

Same for me. Green and orange are owned by conglomerates. Ridiculously high prices and really crappy customer service.

The Massey dealer is still a locally owned mom and pop shop that believes in customer service. I purchased a similar tractor for $6000 less then what I was quoted at the orange and green dealers.

The new larger tractors I've seen popping up around me have been Red or Blue.

Including a local guy that just hays people's fields. He had two green tractors that he just updated to Blue.

Will dealers generally negotiate below MSRP on new John Deere compact tractors?

I received a John Deere cooperate discount offer through the company I work for. The discount would be 13% off on any 2000, 3000 and 4000 20 series tractor.

The models I had been looking at in JD were the 2320 and 3320.

Is it common to get dealers to sell below the 13% from MSRP without a corporate discount, or should I jump all over this offer?

Thanks!
I would check with more than one dealer close geographically to you for price. It never hurts to ask--all they can say is no or .....I was told by an 'orange' dealer that any green engine less than 50 hp wasn't made by Deere? If so, get a Deere diesel!!! IMO. Can anyone verify this?

What difference does the small discount up front make. JD will make that up in no time with overpriced parts and maintenance items. And just wait until the warranty expires.

Trying something new today by expanding the criteria for threads that might be timeless, depending on the replies. Probably just today though.
