Do i have a Jd 755 or JD 855 engine??

The hood of my tractor say 755.

My fuel shut-off solenoid is located (and is the same as) where the 855 should be located.

How do I determine which engine I really have?

Are there pictures on the net where I can see a full picture of each engine on either side?

Easy ways to compare motors in the 755 (3TNA72UK) would be to measure oil capacity (2.7L (2.86 qts) and compression (22.3:1) or bore x stroke 72 x 72 mm. vs. 855's 3TN75RJ oil capacity (3.6L (3.8 qts) and compression (17.8:1) or bore x stroke (75 x 75 mm).

The oil capacity ought to be your first and easiest test. Compression next.
