Do drunk people get hypnotized by flashers?

I don't either. But as to the op: As somebody, who in his dark past, combined drinking driving and other sundry, nefarious activities, I could be hypnotized by a lot of things. Mostly women. Once drunk, dam near any woman. I once carried on a conversation with a dog. But I digress. I think drunks just hit things because they are drunk. They may not even know they are cops. Maybe its "ooooohhh pretty lights"? Or Wtf?

I agree.....drunks are just that......drunks who are impaired and shouldn't be driving......having no judgement is a bad thing.....

A drunk gets up from the bar and heads for the bathroom. A few minutes, a loud, blood curdling scream is heard. A few minutes after that, another loud scream reverberates through the bar.

The bartender goes to investigate why the drunk is screaming. "What's all the screaming about in there?" he yells. "You're scaring my customers!"

"I'm just sitting here on the toilet," slurs the drunk, "and every time I try to flush, something comes up and squeezes the heck out of my testicals."

With that, the bartender looks in and says, "You idiot! You're sitting on the mop bucket!"

I would sooner a drunk on the road then those A-Holes that are too stupid to allow safe stopping distance behind me.

As far as hitting cruisers. They say in defensive driving courses that you go (or hit) what you are looking at. I have found this to be very true.

Yep, and if you're riding a motorcycle and see something (debris) in the road, you need to avoid looking at it; look at the pavement off to the side of the debris.

This is why a lot of truckers that sleep along the side of the highway or off ramps turn their lights off. They get hit more with them turned on as stupid as that sounds.

I think it's a simple as what attracts attention, as Paystar noted. We subconsciously will go toward whatever grabs our attention and drunks are probably more prone to do this. Back in the day when I skied a lot it was common knowledge that if you tried to ski the trees by avoiding the trees, you were sure to hit one. You have to look at and focus on the spaces between the trees. Same for riding motorcycles in the woods.

I live in fear of hitting an emergency responder behind the strobes on police cars and other emergency vehicles at night. Feels like I'm driving into a black hole. It seems that the traffic control personal are always in that blind area as well.

I know what you mean and agree.. I think the dang lights have gotten way too bright and do more harm than good. Back in my day we had a couple of cherries on top, with a synchronized chain that kept the beacons at 90 degrees separation that really worked pretty well. Yes the lamps and motor drew a lot of current, but we had 300 amp alternators too!. Then the Aerodyne bars came along, and now the the electronic LED bars, it seems that the manufacturers have went crazy with light intensity. Just because we CAN make the lights brighter now doesn't mean we SHOULD.
