It probably would if it had a good ground. You haven't mentioned checking that. The bolt securing the ground cable to the frame (wherever that might be) is a notorious connection issue if it's the typical short cable bolted to something near the battery.
Yep. I bought my Challenger out of Canada. Used for snow plowing. I had electrical gremlins and the ground lug was badly corroded. Once I fixed that, no more gremlins since.

I had that problem with the Farmall H (6 Volt). I finally fixed the ground issue with a new wire harness and, after sanding the connection spot for the ground, I smashed a tiny bead of solder between the lug and the torque tube casting.

Went to loosen the negative battery terminal nut and the cable slipped right off before I could get the nut to turn. That’s what I get for doing a visual check and assuming it was secure because it looked pretty damn secure!
I have been switching over my equipment to the lever tighten battery clamps due to that. since they are adjustable with out using tools and will keep the proper setting even after removal I don't have to worry about is it to tight or to loose.

Interesting! I had never seen lever clamp battery terminals before. I can see how they can allow me to use just one battery for seldom used machines. I like that.
