Make sure you don't have the remote lever tripped.
This will cause harder steering if it is left on and "dead headed"

Reviving this 8year old thread, I just came in from mowing and the steering was not responding, did a quick search and found this. Then I remembered I snagged something when I jumped off the tractor to move a stick. Loving TBN once again!
