Oil & Fuel DK35 with low engine oil pressure

"I have torn down the engine and found that the front and rear mains are bad. the crank measures alright. i ordered new mains last week so will see how well Kioti does on getting parts that are not stocked by the dealer. my take on this is this should have never happened to a low hour tractor that wasn't abused. "

TEDDER:
Thanks for the detailed and informative post. I have a similar DK35 with nearly as many hours. Will be watching the oil pressure close... Although there apparently was nothing you could have done differently to avoided the painful outcome...

Does it appear to have spun the bearing or show evidence that oil flow was restricted? Sorry to hear of the bad news and good luck on finding the cause.

It would be nice to know what it shows as far as spun/low flow/ or ???
It won't do any good to put in new bearings and end up with the problem all over again. I'd want to change the oil pump at least also.
What brand of Oil and filters were used?

Not saying that is the cause, but there has been more than one engine destroyed by a "will fit" oil filter.
I have not heard of a Kioti happening this way, but it does happen.
I had a buddy that almost lost his engine to an STP Double Filter.
Oil light came on he shut it down. Took it to a mechanic, he was getting ready to drain the oil so he could drop the oil pan to put in a new Oil pump and saw the filter.
The mechanic had heard of it before and so he took the filter off and changed the oil.
It was fine after that.

the bearings did not spin but the bottom of the bearings is gone. i would like to mic the journals to make sure no wear happened but need the dimensions. asked the dealer to provide but waiting. visual inspection indicates no wear but really need to mic so i feel good. i have to say this tractor was easy to tear down every thind very modular. plus pneumatic tools are great:)

Hi Tedder
The crank dimensions are as follows: -
Big End Brg = 1.85040~1.85221 in
Main Brg = 2.04414~2.04488 in
Hope that helps.
Cheers:)

front and rear mains gone makes me think bent or out of true crankshaft.

That sounds like a possibility TractorLegend how would the tractor run or sound if the crank was bent? What would cause the crank to bend? I can't figure out how just the front and rear mains are the only damage? I'm replacing all the mains. I plan to trade the tractor off as soon as I get it fixed.

Anythings possible with diseased parts, could have been bad from factory, overloaded engine, an engine that hydro locked from ingesting water... there are companies that can check and straighten bent cranks however it looks as if you are hoping for not removing crank which of course will yield a risky outcome unfortunately. A proper fix would include thorough disassembly of rotating assembly, checking crank as mentioned above, checking oil feed passages for trash- both block and crank. Heck, even the saddles could be out of whack indicating need for "line boring".
However people have just stuffed bearings in engines and gotten by. Im never so lucky- the few times early in my career I tried that all times I was met with failure.
Maybe this failure analysis link will help.

TL I'll bring the crank into work and check the alignment.
