Finally did it - after over a year of research and significant pleading, I went and purchased the DK 35 package from O'Bryans in KY. The final straw was my Toro zero-turn mower collapsing last Saturday. Tuesday I went to Owensboro and bought the package. The tractor was delivered Saturday about 9:00 a.m. (which was earlier than the promised noon delivery, which considering I was up at 4:00 a.m., the early delivery was very welcome). But oh how quickly joy can turn to near total devastation. The seal from the cylinder rod on the Kioti loader blew, spewing hydraulic fluid all over the yard - and this was before I even got to drive it. The rod blew as the delivery man was unloading the box blade from the trailer. And if you think the look on my face was bad, you should have seen the look on my wife's face. You have no idea how much effort it took to convince her we needed to spend $20,000, especially on a much lessor known brand of tractor, to take care of our 5.5 acres! At least we were still able to use the tractor. I mowed with the grooming mower, broke some ground with the box blade, and tilled a large garden area. The tractor and the tiller were quite impressive. At this time of year in northwest TN, the ground is rock hard and that tiller just pulverized it. Anyways O'Bryans called today and said they would be here tomorrow to fix and reattach the loader. They swore this has never happened before. I don't regret going with Kioti, I just hope this is my last "This has never happened before" incident. I went with O'Bryan's for two reasons- neither one was price. Customer service and perceived longevity were key for me. I told them that one of the main reasons I went with Kioti was due to discussion boards like this one. I also told them that I will not be silent about my purchase or my buying experience- whether it is good or bad, I was going to share with this with the group. I didn't say this to them in a threatening manner, but I wanted them to know that if it weren't for discussions like this one, I would have had a Kubota tractor in my shop rather than Kioti. Only time will tell if my assumptions about Kioti and O'Bryans hold true.

Congratulations on your purchase and condolences on your purchase! I think you know what I mean. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm still shopping around, and will be for awhile, but I've kept coming back to Kioti's because of some of the very things that you mentioned. I don't think I'd get one from O'Bryan's just because of the distance (Wisconsin), but I sure like the pricing on their package deals!

With any luck, by the time I buy I'll be able to purchase one with HST.

Good luck on getting your problem fixed. With any luck, it's the only problem you'll have, and your wife will be using up all the seat time! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Send pictures! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

TN_Kioti,
Tell your wife not to worry these are excellant tractors.
I have 52 hours on my new DK 35 and really like it.
The right tilt cylinder for my bucket dripped oil when I first got mine also.
Dealer replaced a bad O-ring.I have had NO problems since.

TN, you won't be sorry about your purchase and O'bryans is an excellent dealer. my fel works like a champ no problems at all but my seat got a rip in it at about 80 hours and my dealer replaced it right away. i went with Brice equipment in Lehigh OK. on a scall of 1-10 in comparison to Obryan's buiness he's an 8 only because he don't have the volume. but i trust his judgement on farm equipment and he's honest. i'm sure this seal is the only problem youl'l have. wax your loader arms so the paint don't fade i did and they still look great. the loader paint is not as high a quality as the tractor. i waxed the tractor eventhough it didn't need it. gotta keep it looking new. wish i had that tiller.

I also used discussion boards like this one to make my decision on my Kioti purchase.
I made the right decision../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The lift cylinder on my new DK40 fel also had a bad leak, found that the O-ring had been shaved when installed,I put a new one in for less than a buck and it's been fine ever since.
These loaders are U.S. made and Kioti had better jack them up a bit.The design and construction is fine, but the quality control is non-existant.
In addition to the bad seal I had two loose fittings(hard to get at) and the bucket holes would not accept the pins without considerable filing.
This kind of stuff is bad PR for the makers of such a fine and near flawless tractor...............Mike
P.S. My tiller also works great and has had no prolems, but it,s made in Italy.WAKE UP ! American workers and take pride in what you build.

A shaved O-ring on the end cap for my tilt cylinder was the problem with mine.
I agree there seems to be a problem with Kioti loader cylinders.USA made loaders.
The rest of the loader and the tractor-Problem free !!

All but the o-ring problem should be taken care of during the dealers PDI inspection. Unless of course the o-ring was leaking right from the factory then it should also have been fixed by the dealer BEFORE delivery to you.

Loader Update: O'Bryan's sent two men out yesterday to fix the loader- works great. Only thing is the bucket is not quite level. I sure I can adjust it, I just need to figure out how. Given my near total lack of mechanical ability, it will probably take three times longer to adjust than it should.

On another note, I need you guys' help. I have a V-6 Toyota 4X4. Is this enough truck to pull the tractor and a couple of implements. It will probably be well over 4000#s. The terrain here is relatively flat, just some rolling hills. The truck is my play vehicle but I dont want to do any significant damage pulling the tractor. Also, the trailer that came with the package has air brakes. What do I need to do to get the air brakes operational and are they really necessary?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If your Toyota owners manual doesn't list the vehicle's towing capacity, you could always either call a Toyota dealer and ask them or check out the truck on the Toyota web site. They usually list towing capacities there. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

A trailer that size usually has electric brakes.
You will need to buy a control box and wire it into you truck.
I would not recommend pulling the weight of the trailer, tractor, and attachments behind a Toyota pickup without trailer brakes !

tn, i would personally not want to tow my trailer and DK35 with a small truck like your toyota. i have a S10 and won't use it. i use my 3/4 ton dodge with cummins diesel to tow my rig. feel real safe and don't worry about damaging my truck or tractor. just my 2.5 cents worth. can you get someone to tow it for you or borrow a truck? hate to see your new DK35 all over the hiway.

Hey guys, thanks for confirming what I already suspected on trailing the DK behind the Toyota. I think I will borrow or rent a truck if it has to be moved.

Now for the bad news, last night after work I went to the shop for my nightly admiration of the new tractor (pretty sad isn't it) and found three large pools of fluid under the tractor on the concrete. Something, I think it's the loader, is leaking like a sieve. Not that the knot in my stomach wasn't bad enough, I am getting those looks once again from my wife. I about had her convinced, based on responses from this post and others, that the seal was probably a one time thing and the tractor/loader will probably be fine from now on. It will take a lot more convincing now.
On a good note, I called O'Bryan's today (July 4th) and got Paul O'Bryan. He was very apologetic and said he would send someone out next week to correct. So far in this process, Paul, John and the rest of the staff at O'Bryan's have been very responsive and I am very appreciative. Hopefully, this will be the last time these guys have to come out. I will keep you posted.

K-01,I bought a crated tractor so I guess I did my own PDI,still the loader factory should have a quality assurance program to catch these things.
Did I mention the zerk fittings?I believe they were driven in without using the proper drive tool. This squashes them and makes it near impossible to get the grease gun off, some actually pulled out, this again is sloppy work at the loader plant...........Mike

It is a shame that Kioti builds such a nice tractor, but the loader mfg. can not seem to put in a seal !!

It is sad that the only problems Kioti has are all related to the American made loader. Kioti will stand behind their product and you will have no problem from them about warranty work. Maybe we should start trying to show our kids the advantages of discipline and pride that makes all of these other countries products better than our own. We better do somethin' QUICK!! America has been on a "let's make our kids feel good even if they do bad" plight for far to long.
