In my long quest for a compact tractor I have discovered a unique advantage of the Kioti DK Series over ,I think all other compact tractors. In addition to the weight advantage and features per dollar is the dual control feature on the three point hitch of draft and position control. All other name brands that I have looked at have position control only. This dramatically increases the flexibility of the tractor.Yet it is hardly talked about. I agree the Kioti has numerous advantages, but I have seen the Farmtrac, Montana, and Branson have these 3 pt hitch controls. The Branson actually has two different pto speeds.

Hi DonnyJ. Yes, the Montana 3040, 3840 and 4540 as well as the 3440hst and 3940hst all have draft control standard and they are also heavy built tractors.

I do like the Kioti tractors and think them to be fine tractors.

Other nice features are at least 1 set of rear remote hydraulic valves standard. (makes it quick, easy and cheaper to add a hydraulic top link).
And the extendable lower link arms on the 3 point are a big PLUS when hooking up implements.

Eldon, it's actually draft, position and mixed. On some brands, the draft is an option. Kioti offers a lot of standards that are options on others. John

John,I see the DK series spec'd as draft, position and mixed.I'm now clear on the difference on draft and position but under what circumstances would one use mixed? yes I agree Kioti offers a lot of bells and whistles over many brands as standard.

Position control allows one to pretty much hit the right level of the hitch by simply placing it in a certain postion on the lever scale, and one can come back to that same spot each time. Draft control doesn't allow this to happen. Draft control simply feels for resistance when ploughing or using other ground engaging implements, and causes the hitch to raise and lower back down to keep the implement going. You can't exactly place the hitch easily like you can with position control which returns to neutral on it's own when you find the spot you want, and with position control, you simply have it placed where you want it and the hitch just stays there, resistance or not. With mixed, you can place it where you want it with position control AND set the draft to feel for resistance. The draft will lift the hitch upon feeling resistance and then return to where you have the position control set. You can also change the position and leave the draft pretty much set to where it is if you encounter different terrain and want to dig a little deeper or shallower.
I can do it better than I can explain it. I hope this is clear enough. John
