Mark---Have you considered an older tractor like an IH 766, 786, or 886? Lots of them out there yet, some junk but some in good shape. Check out TractorHouse.com for pricing. They also don't have all the bells and whistles but are much easier to work on than the newer ones.

My Dealer here in Newfoundland, Canada quoted me $49,450 Cdn. for the new DK 90 with the KL901 Loader last month. Though he is still waiting for one to come in so I can see one in person.

I have looked at some "older" Fords but nothing earlier than the 1990's. I'm not against them in anyway but not as familar with what's what. I have always felt that my next large tractor would be new or slightly used and then if all is going well on the farm my back up to that tractor (60 PTO hp or so) would used.

There are guys who make their living restoring old tractors. Usually they will have put in new TA's, rebuilt or reman motors, PTO's have been worked on, new paint job, and new tires. You basically have a new tractor for about half or less what a new one would cost. Prices for old iron have gone up in the past nine months but there are still bargains out there.

Purchased a new DK902C in New Zealand in september 2008. Was advised against it by farming peers as the Kioti brand is a new kid on the block and nobody knew anything about them.
However I'm totaly impressed thus far. The lack of new technology was a major factor in my choice as the new "bells and whistles" would have added an extra $40 000 to the new price if I'd chosen a bigger named brand in New Zealand.
So far I've put 190 hours on the clock cultivating some reasonably steep country. With the addition of snaplock duels the tractor preforms above expectations. It is exceptionaly comfortable and driver friendly. Power is never in doubt and so far ,even my sceptic friends are becoming more and more impressed by the day.

Welcome to TBN Muzzakiwi. I'm not sure but you may be the first from NZ. Certainly the first Kioti owner. We have several active members from Oz too.

And, don't keep us guessing about the "Snap Lock Duals"....gotta see some photos. I searched on that term and only come up with listings in NZ. Is that a local company?

Sounds like you made a good choice. I have found if your farming peers agree with your desion it is probaly a bad one and if they desigree it might be a good one.

The first one I saw was at the Louisville National Machinery Show last Feb.
