Kioti DK45
I have a DK45 with shuttle shift 8 gears (4 L and 4 H). The 4 high gears I absolutely cannot use. Each time I put it in any one of those gear, no matter how much I rev up the engine, as soon as I clutch it in, the tractor goes to the neutral position on the shuttle shift. When I operate with the low gears. 1 is OK all the time. 2 will jump out when there is an excessive load but this is rare. 3 will jump out when there is an excessive load such as running my 6 ft rotary cutter while climbing a hill. 4 jump out most of the time and will operate only on very flat land at low or zero load.

I can't believe Kioti would make a tractor with 4 practically useless high gears. I'm thinking there is something wrong with my transmission. If so, what can be wrong with it and what should I do? Right now I have half a mind to keep on running this tractor as is until it dies and buy a new one. However, if there is something reasonable inexpensive for me to do, I'm game.

My 2006 DK45SC has three ranges of 4 gears, with a reverse lever (12/12 transmission). While it was still under warranty, it started jumping out of gear. The problem turned out to be a bent shift fork; the replacement was obviously/visibly a beefier component than the original. I don't know whether this is also the source of your problem, but it requires more labour than parts to fix, especially if yours is a cab model.

Mine is not a cab model. Thanks for the idea. I'll check it out.

Definitely not normal. My DK45s has never jumped out of gear under any load. Hopefully it's only bent forks that are not fully engaging the shifter in the gears. On my DK45s (12x12, probably like the SE tranny) forks can be replaced without splitting the tranny. But if gears, synchros, or shifter were damaged by operating it this way the tractor must be split to replace those parts, I think. I have read of several cases of bent shift forks so, hopefully, that's your only problem.

I'd remove the front transmission drain plug, hold your finger over the hole to keep from draining the oil and there might be a magnet on it and then you can possible find a few parts to the sychro. They should be chrome in color and you'll see that these little parts are broke in half. To repair this you need to split the tractor which is expensive. If it was my tractor I'd remove the steering housing and on the top of the trans pull the cover and replace the shift fork. It's not the best but will for a long time.
