Pretty slick. I would think a small Ridgid pipe vise would be nicerthan the chain vise grips, but I guess it depends on what you are working on and what's available.

very innovative...any idea how the jack relief valve works with a peddle/foot lever?...all the ones I've seen/used have needle valves that require CW/CCW torque to open/close...

It's common on small table lifts and atv lifts.......it is a button, spring loaded from the inside of the jack base........when depressed it opens the port internally, then when released the spring closes the valve port

Thanks...thought it might be something like that...just never encountered one...

...I wonder if a decent quality (secretary) chair lift would suffice?
