DIY thumb bucket grapple???

How do I go about designing/measuring for adding a thumb for a stump bucket? I have all the tools needed to cut/weld, it have never built a thumb/grapple. Does the pivot points need to have grease zerks? How to measure for where and what length cylinder? Where does the end of thumb need to be at on teeth or inside just shy of the teeth? All questions I have so, anyone done one that I could get some plans or ideas from? Thanks

Look around on line and get some ideas. I just used these ideas with some measuring and then utilizing the cylinder I had on hand.
I'm sure there is a more scientific way but this is what I did.
