OK folks, my beloved wants a big garden project to start up. She wants to do flowers here, a big veggie patch (1/4 acre) over there. We've got to build up our soil some and start some lawn conversion.

She wants me to buy a rototiller for the tractor. "Yes Dear!" :D

So, any thoughts on what I should get? I like the TSC 5 footer as it is plenty big and not too expensive.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Plenty good enough of a tiller, and like you say, at a decent price. A disc alone won't do what you need. To get any depth into hard untilled soil, you'd need to plow it first, either with a moldboard plow or some sort of ripper/middlebuster/subsoiler/box blade scarfiers/ect. In the end, you'll probably be happier with the results you get with a tiller.

In previously unworked soil, start with a shallow pass, then take ever increasingly deeper passes with the tiller until you get to maximum depth.
