disk harrow: spacing between front gangs

Should there be a space between the internal bumper washers
on the left and right gangs of harrows when the gangs are set at maximum angle? If so, what should be the minimum space? 5 disks per gang

Not getting the 'picture' regards your question. Maybe just a terminology thing, but a photo or downloaded picture of the disk you are asking about might help.
I think the answer is 'yes', but that isn't very definite.

Do you think the disk is broken, mfg. wrong, or just not the way you would like (or think) it to be?

The old good disks had large, large metal washer-bumper-hubs on the first blade & rubbed against each other on this.

The elcheapo tiny 3pt disks from the farm supply store probably don't. Harder on the bearings. Depends on your brand?

had to remove gang in order to replace worn out axle, bumper washer and broken disk. I forgot the spacing (i.e. touching or not) between bumper washers on front gangs

el cheapo...INTERNATIONAL is brand...think it was made in India....normal size disk...actually heavier duty than bush hog brand I use

but do need advice on whether bumper wahers should touch...seems like it cause premature wear

I believe that on every disk I ever saw the bumper washers on the front gangs were touching.
